Counselling helps you live a better life!

My name is Ghabeebu-rahmaan Adams, and I will be your counsellor. My life as a counsellor began from my first year of university. At the time I was in a space where I had thought my future was set and I would follow the path I had taken. Thinking pursuing an engineering degree would best suit me. My mind shifted midway through my qualification, “this does not sit well with me”, were my thoughts at the time. My direction in life at the time felt as though it had little to no meaning. I switched courses to a bachelor’s in arts in the hope that I would find a better purpose. Low and behold the field of psychology opened to me

Counselling focuses on a specific topic for a limited period of time. Psychological therapy focuses on individuals in a long term setting. The primary area of focus during psychological therapy would be on the individual’s behaviour, thoughts and any maladaptive behaviours. Psychological therapy tends to focus on pathological instances that occur within people. Therefore to answer the question each kind of therapy serves a different purpose that caters to each persons need.
Counselling is defined as being the process of interacting with a mental health worker (Counsellor) or mental health practitioner (Psychologist) for a period of time, while focusing on a specific topic of conversation.
Typically counselling sessions will last up to twelve sessions. However, the sessions with the counsellor are not limited to twelve sessions. Should you feel the need to terminate the counselling process you will be allowed to do so. The sessions are also not limited to twelve sessions should you feel the need to attend further sessions the topic will be discussed with the counsellor.
